The Sea Hotel

Me and my partner, we both enjoyed our stay at the Sea Hotel. The only downside we experienced was that we had to pay £20 for 1 hour late check out. It's very expensive as most hotels don't charge for the first hour.

I booked 3 rooms for my employees. They reported, with photos, that the rooms were in bad condition. I asked for a refund to be told no. I then asked for a partial refund and was told the manager would get in touch. I still haven’t heard anything 3 weeks on.

Should shut this DUMP down, a disgraceful hotel the manager I believe is called Chris he should not be employed in the hospitality trade. Never again will we return, glad to get back home, rooms damp food second class, some of the staff ok the rest ignorant.

No lifts,room in bad need of an uplift. Clothes rail on wall ,my 6ft 2inch husband ended up with a gash on his head because of it,if he'd looked up,he'd have seriously damaged his eye or worse. Stop cutting corners, we will never stay here again.

Staff friendly but room was very poor standard & opened the blind one morning to find workman on the flat roof outside! Room was unbearably warm at night & our breakfast was of a vastly different standard each morning. Doubt we would stay again.

The hotel has been vastly improved since the last time we stayed here. Our family room was large with a large bathroom. We had 6 windows in total! The bed was comfy but a little squeaky. The sofa bed wasn’t made up on arrival but this was soon sorted for us. The staff were very good. The room was clean and tidy. We did have a bedside lamp but nowhere to plug it in! The breakfast was delicious and had a good choice of dishes to choose from. The staff were very efficient. We had a great stay and will definitely return.

Beautiful Hotel in a good location by the Sea, staff friendly and accommodating to ones needs. Room well kept and clean. Food was of a good standard. Customer service for dining a good service, friendly, felt like home. Worth a visit, may visit again. Thank you.

Absolutely awful stay. We were in room 1 in the annex, this was a disabled room and the wheelchair support in the toilet was hanging off the wall. We met the room cleaners leaving our room, no cleaning equiptment, all they did was make the bed. We got a drink in the bar, at 10.45pm the bar staff said drink up, I asked for more drinks to be told they'd turned the pumps off. We were told the bar closed at 11.00 and we were residents so dont get why that happened. Staff were sat by the entrance wrapping cutlery in napkins, hardly hygenic when the pulblic are trooping past. No doors opened automatically for the wheelchair, it took two people to hold them open,this was a big problem and needs addressing. A male member of staff came in with fish and chips and sat eating them where customers should be sat,he should have used the staff room. We had a room for 3 and only 2 cups, no milk or coffee so we had to ring reception. The air con didn't work, non of the doors in the annex are soft close and they slammed all night, this was staff members who live on site and dont speak much english. We left the hotel at 5.30 am on our last night due to being kept awake all night, I asked the man on reception ( he struggled to understand my query) if we could possibly have a sandwich each or something for breakfast ( we'd paid for it) to take on our journey home,he said no chef until 7.00am, Im sure he knew how to make a sandwich. The grounds were filthy,clothes hanging from railings, dead ants, litter and cigarette butts and weeds everywhere. This hotel needs condemming, We have never stayed anywhere as bad in our lives. Absolutely horrendous. Not one postitive thing to say about it.

Our 3* rating is somewhat generous, considering, but the staff were friendly and helpful, the location for beach amenities is excellent and the bed, though not kingsize, was very comfortable with good linen. Now for the brickbats... The hotel recently had a makeover but already there were damp marks on the ceiling and walls of our bedroom, the walls were paper thin, and the doors didn't fit well and let in every sound from the corridor and also light. A minimally appointed bathroom with no handrail on the bath although no option but to take your shower standing in the bath. The dining room is attractive but is also a through route from front to back entrances. Breakfast menus on grubby pieces of A4 paper had prices against the options but to be ignored by guests. Staff hang about in the side entrance smoking in their breaks. A filthy mat just inside the entrance from the car park, which should have been replaced every day. Worst of all, and unforgivable, is that a few days after we got home we received 2x fixed penalty notices of £100 for using the car park when we'd already registered our car as belonging to guests. TWO days later we are still waiting for the hotel to get back to us on this!! We would not stay here again.
